Tintype Portraits & Prints

Historical photographs made in modern times

I am operating the leading tintype portrait studio in Atlanta, GA. I offer tintype portrait sessions either by appointment at my studio, at a unique private location and gift-card options. I will also be at local pop-ups and markets throughout Atlanta and the Southeast.

What’s a tintype you ask? A tintype is a photograph created on metal that develops right before your eyes with a historical charm. Wet plate is the second photographic process ever created back in the 1850’s. They are one of a kind and last a lifetime. They can be gifts for yourself or can be a family heirloom that will last through generations. Today, these metal photographs are available at my Atlanta portrait studio. I photograph you and your loved ones, may they be a 4-legged friend or your most beloved person(s). I also travel to businesses and events with my mobile tintype portrait studio all over the country.

Check out some of my previous pop-ups and markets on my tintype blog here!

I offer two options for tintype portrait sessions. The first option is most popular and highly recommended. These sessions are for a 1 hour portrait session which includes 2 tintypes at my private studio in Hapeville.  To book this option, you can find available dates here. If there are no available dates on the calendar please reach out!

The second option is an on-location portrait session that’s uniquely customized for you. This allows for more creative opportunities if you’re looking for a special location or more than 5 people. Please reach out to me via email to set this up. Tintypes require a 1 week processing time after your session and will be mailed to you within 3 days after they are ready. Each session includes the physical plates and a digital copy of each portrait.

FAQS

• What is it?

A tintype is how they made photos in the 1850s. Today it is directly created using a physical metal plate. It's a 4" x 5" piece of aluminum that I add light sensitive chemicals to which allows me to create your portrait.

• How much?

At the studio: $300 for 2 Plates - These sessions take a minimum of 1 hour and they include the physical plates, which is shipped to you after a 1 week processing time, and digital files of each tintype.

On location: Starts at $500 - Includes multiple plates in a unique location. Tintypes can be created anywhere that I can drive to!

• Do you offer gift cards?

Yes! You can purchase one by clicking the link below which will take you to my store. Then you have the option to receive a digital gift card or have a physical gift card shipped to you. Please reach out to me via email if you would like a physical gift card.

• What do I wear?

Colors show up differently through this process. Red shows up as black and blue shows up as white. Any words will show up backwards. I ask that you dress in a way that makes you feel good. When you feel good, you look good!

• Do you offer weekday availability?

Yes I do! These appointments are booked via email only as my availability during the week changes often.

• How many people can be in the portrait?

For most tintype appointments I recommend max 2 adults at a time. Children can be added to this as well. Please email me if you would like a portrait with 4 or more people.
